The Faculty of Arts and Design at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is bringing together its talent and resources to present the eighth TUT Arts Festival from 10 to 12 September 2026 on the vibrant Arts Campus.
Behind the scenes, staff and students are working together to create another exciting showcase where the public can experience the exceptional talent, creativity and innovation of TUT’s emerging artists.
Presented in partnership with the City of Tshwane and Tshwane FM, this year’s festival is inspired by the theme Artivism, exploring how creativity can help address the challenges we face collectively while fostering responsible citizenship, critical thinking and design thinking.
Festivalgoers can look forward to a diverse line-up featuring exhibitions, performances, demonstrations, workshops, virtual reality experiences, masterclasses, student films and panel discussions.
Whether your interests lie in Fashion, Fine and Studio Arts (Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Surface and Fibre Design), Interior Design, Performing Arts (Jazz, Opera, Dance, Performance or Technical) or Visual Communication (Commercial Photography, Integrated Communication Design and Motion Picture Production), the festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the creative process, meet emerging artists and invest in their work.
The festival opens on 9 September with The Journey That Carried Us! The Dean’s Concert 2026, a powerful original musical production that transforms the stage into a symbolic railway, where every song becomes a station and every performance takes audiences on a journey of courage, resilience, hope and celebration. The production is presented in collaboration with the South African State Theatre at 19:00 in the Drama Theatre.
